In a pioneering move towards sustainability, K.R. Pfiffner AG, a leading Swiss machine manufacturer, has used solar energy to optimise its operations. Faced with rising energy consumption, Pfiffner recognised the need for a more environmentally friendly approach to energy production and decided to take the step of installing a photovoltaic system.
The installation of the solar panels is an important milestone in Pfiffner’s journey towards sustainability as the company endeavours to reduce its environmental footprint and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. By harnessing the power of the sun, Pfiffner is not only strengthening its energy resilience, but also setting a commendable example for the industry.
The main goal of the project is to utilise more than 60% of the solar power generated for production purposes, resulting in a remarkable reduction of electricity costs by more than 60%. Despite the scale of the project, Pfiffner’s commitment to sustainability knows no bounds, as demonstrated by the rapid realisation of the project in a record time of just four months from contract signing to commissioning.
The impact of Pfiffner’s solar initiative goes far beyond its immediate business operations: an estimated 2,854 kg of CO2 emissions will be eliminated from the company’s carbon footprint each year over the next quarter of a century.
