Real estate portfolios face various challenges during decarbonization – from outdated heating systems and rising energy costs to regulatory requirements. The Buchs property’s oil heating system reached the end of its life. Together with Helvetica, enshift evaluated different solutions.
This is where enshift AG’s holistic approach came into play. We combined modern reversible air-to-water heat pumps, which provide sustainable heating in winter and cooling in summer, with a high-performance photovoltaic system. The highlight: the electricity generated by the PV system is not only fed into the grid but also used to power the heat pumps – a combination that reduces operating costs, lowers CO₂ emissions, and ensures year-round efficiency.
Advantages of our holistic approach:
- Year-round efficiency: The reversible heat pumps provide sustainable heating in winter and cooling in summer – independent of outside temperatures.
- Optimal synergies: Combining with a powerful PV system enables the use of self-produced solar energy, increasing self-consumption and economic viability.
- Zero-invest model: Helvetica benefits from state-of-the-art technology and cost savings without needing to invest its own capital. Thanks to direct imports and our purchasing volume, CapEx costs were reduced by 25–40% on average compared to market prices.
- Sustainability & value enhancement: In addition to reducing operating costs and CO₂ emissions, the solution improves the property’s energy rating, increases marketability, and reduces long-term vacancy risk.
This project clearly demonstrates how well-conceived holistic energy solutions can turn technical challenges into strategic opportunities – and how enshift efficiently, economically, and sustainably supports decarbonization of existing properties.
